Research and Planning: Montage Examples

Today I have decided to do some research on montages as my group who I'm working with on creating a film trailer have decided to put a montage in our trailer. Therefore I think it would be a good idea to look at other trailers and see how they piece together their montages as they could give me inspiration and further my understanding.

mon·tage/mänˈtäZH/

Noun:
  1. The process or technique of selecting, editing, and piecing together separate sections of film to form a continuous whole.
  2. A sequence of film resulting from this.

The first trailer I looked at was New Moon, the montage starts around 1:49 I liked this montage as it wasn't too fast but the straight cuts did speed up the trailer. They showed a mixture of action sequences which builds suspense and keeps the audience guessing what happens next but also some emotional shots of the couple, therefore there is a mixture of scenes which makes the film look more appealing and diverse.
