Research and Planning: Film Company Logo

Our group have been thinking up names today, we have thought of three different names and will get audience feedback to see which the public like best.

Bethan thought up Fearful Films.
Alice thought up Panic Pictures.
I have come up with the film company name of Decay Pictures, I think this suits the genre of film we are producing. I would like the logo to have a decay looking film strip/ reel with the company name in the middle.

Research and Planning: Costumes For Filming On Thursday

This is the first outfit we will use a black dress and black boots. This will be used for the Train Station location as I think it will look like she has been on a night out and will show how the stalker knows where she is all the time.

Research and Planning: Font Ideas For My Film Name

I have gone to Dafont to look for fonts that would look effective for the film genre and plot. The ones above are the ones I liked best as I think the audience would know by looking at just the font that the film is horror based.

Research and Planning: Film Magazines

Empire:

The first issue of Empire was published in July 1989 and since then has become the biggest selling magazine in Britain. The magazine is published every month from Bauer Consumer Media. Some Regular features of the magazine are: film news, previews and reviews and a top ten regular feature list. Empire is published in Britain, America, Australia, Turkey, Russia and Portugal and outsells its market rival film magazine called Total Film by over two to one.

Total Film:

Future Publishing publishes total Film every four months. Although Empire is the biggest selling film magazine in Britain, Total Film is the second biggest selling. Some of the regular features are news, reviews and features e.g. photo shoots and full-length interviews. This magazine was launched in 1997.

Research and Planning: Magazine Font

Hunger Games
Nouvelle Vague

Bebas Neue

Coolvetica

Couture

Code

Revolution

I decided to visit the website called Dafont to research what the potential fonts are that I could use for my film magazine cover.

Research and Planning: The Mask

Today, me and Alice went shopping and tried to find a mask for our film, after searching around lots of shops we finally found a mask at PoundWorld, we bought this for £1.

Research and Planning: Filming Day Forecast

I have checked the local weather forecast for Thursday in the area that we are filming, it is important to know about the weather as most of it will be outdoor filming that requires it to be quite clear. After looking at the forecast it seems to be cloudy at the time of day we expect to feel this is the perfect weather.

Research and Planning: Plan of the Week

This week I plan to:
-Upload all the things I did last week
-Buy the mask for our trailer
-Sort out the final costumes for scenes
-Start filming

Research and Planning: Script

Today our group wrote our script, we decided to look at the scenes and what needed to be said in these scenes. This is the rough guide o the script that we have written however it isn't too bad if the dialogue from the actors differs a little bit as we want the dialogue to appear natural and realistic.

This is our script:

Scene One (College)
Actor 1: I'm really excited for this weekend.
Actor 2: Me too, can't wait to see Jasmine, I haven't seen her since she left college.
Actor 3: Oh me neither, I hope she's okay.
Actor 4 (Jess) :Does anyone else feel like they're being watched?
Actor 5: Why would anyone want to watch you?
Actor (Jess): Okayyy

*Click click click* Cut to scene two (shed) then cut to caption 'you never know who's watching'

Scene Three (Montage)
Actor 4 (Jess): What you doing?

Actor 1 (phonecall): Who's that?
Actor 4 (Jess): Unknown number.

Actor 2: What's been up with you lately, you've been acting strange.
Actor 4(Jess): I just keep getting messages all the time, I feel as if someones always watching me.

Scene 4 (House):
Neighbour: What are you doing by that window?!

*knocks on door*

Actor 4 (Jess: Hi, are you okay?
Neighbour: Did you just see that, there was someone by the window. Thought I would see if you're okay.
Actor 4 ||(Jess): Oh not again! Well, erm thanks for letting me know.

Scene Five (Train Station):
Actor 4 (Jess): What do you want (screams).

Scene Six (Park):

Scene Seven (Car Park):
Actor Four (Jess): LEAVE ME ALONE, GET OFF ME, WHO ARE YOU?!, ARRRRGHHHHH, HELP HELP. *bangs on window*

Research and Planning: Shooting Schedule

Research and Planning: Influential Trailers

This is the trailer for a film called 'The Host' which is due to be released next year. I watched this trailer and absolutely loved it, everything about it I found interesting but I especially liked the sound and music. The first part of the trailer has dark lighting and a man creeps up on the girl, this builds suspense as we think something bad is about to happen, as my film is about a stalker I think that this would be a good and effective way to show the creeping up and watching of a person. At 1:14 in the trailer it shows the girl full of scratches this make up is how I would like my actress to look for my magazine cover. Although the genre of this film and my film trailer are very different with opposite plots, I feel there are certain elements I can take away from this trailer to use for myself.

This is the trailer for a film called 'The Lovely Bones' which was released in 2009. I really enjoyed how the main character in the film who was dead did the voiceover to the trailer, I feel this gave the film a very eerie and personal touch. I would consider doing this in my trailer and using only small parts of dialogue from other parts, I think this helps the audience to relate more to the character.

Research and Planning: SLR Test Shots

This is the first picture that we took. We did this without the flash and it is slightly out of focus.

This photo was also taken without flash, this has a better focus however the lighting is still dull on this photo.

This photo was taken with flash on, I  think the quality of this is a lot better quality as it is sharper with the combination of flash and natural lighting.

The two photos above were also taken with the flash, the quality of the photos are better with the flash than without.
This photo was taken from above the car park at a high angle shot as it was important to see the lighting at different angles. This photo was taken with the flash on and is good quality therefore I will bear in mind that photos with the flash on are still a better quality when outside in natural lighting.

The three photos shown above were taken from inside the college, the artificial light inside seems to have provided the photos with a yellow hue. As these were taken without the flash, I would consider using flash inside to create a better quality photo and to improve the lighting.

Research and Planning: Auditions

STALKER AUDITIONS:
We auditioned Dan as the stalker to see what if a male stalker or female stalker would be more effective. We asked Dan to say 'Get in the boot' this line could be said in a menacing way, after auditioning him I feel like he fits the role of the stalker very well, as he is a good actor and got into the role we instructed him to.The line he said would be used in the final scene of our trailer as we want it to end on a scary note. Dan was able to create the effect we wanted therefore I would cast Dan for the role of stalker in our film trailer.

VICTIM AUDITIONS:
I think this actress got into the role we asked of her very well, she acted out the line very well in terms of voice and facial expressions. I don't think that she is totally suited to the role of the main victim in the trailer however I would cast her as another role as she showed great acting potential.
I don't think this actress got into the role we asked of her, her tone of voice didn't portray the effect of being scared that we wanted for our main actress. Therefore, I don't think I would cast her as the victim in our trailer as I want the audience to view the victim as the stereotypical damsel in distress and this actress didn't show the ability to do that.
I think this actress fits the look of the victim that we are looking for however she doesn't show a diverse  range of acting ability as the line seemed to be forced and not natural. Therefore I would not cast her as the victim but would consider her as another character.

Research and Planning: Makeup Tests

We have tried out two shades of colours on the models lips, we have decided to go with the red lipstick as it suits the look that we want for the character.

We decided that we wanted the eye makeup to be quite simple so used a pale shade to give a girly feel to the look. The mascara is going to applied to lengthen the eyelashes and create a college look.

We have tried out mascara on different people to try out with length of eyelashes would look good and realistic.
We have tried lips with a red colour as we want the main actress who is a college student to have features that attract the stalker. I think bright red lips are perceived as quite provocative and shows the person has confidence. A quiet isolated person (stalker) would be attracted to a character like this.

After doing these make up tests we have found what we do and what we don't want out model to have on. I think we should do understated eye makeup and overstated lips as it is best to focus on one feature. I think this make up portrays the make up of a college student.
